The Matakana Trail
The Matakana Trail links Matakana Country Park, Point Wells, Omaha Beach, and Matakana Village — showcasing some of the most beautiful country and coastal landscapes in the region.
The trail ride winds through farmland, estuary edges, and seaside stretches. With a couple of steeper climbs along the way, it’s a fun and rewarding adventure suited to a relaxed day out - or extend your ride and make a weekend of exploring the coast.

The Matakana Trail has been developed by The Coastal Trail, a community driven project, led by volunteers. Their vision is to create a world-class adventure trail connecting our coastal communities, from Puhoi in the south, via the Matakana Coast, to Mangawhai in the north.
